Shamik Chakrabarti

Shamik Chakrabarti is a stand-up comedian and screenwriter based in Bengaluru, India. He first gained recognition for his sharp writing and unique comedic style on the Amazon Prime Video series Comicstaan.

Born into a family of engineers, Chakrabarti initially pursued a career in that field, working as an electrical engineer for several years. However, he had always been interested in comedy, with early influences including stand-up comedians Russell Peters and George Carlin. While pursuing a master’s degree in the United States, he frequently attended live and online stand-up gigs, further solidifying his interest in the medium. Eventually, an open mic event prompted Chakrabarti to pursue comedy as a career.
